The latest generation of Petzl's ZigZag is a real evolution among safety devices. In addition to use on double ropes, the device is also suitable for use on single ropes when in conjunction with the Chicane brake accessory. There are therefore numerous application possibilities.
As with its predecessor model, the friction chain enables precise and efficient movement in the tree. Operation is very similar to climbing with a clamping knot and Prusik pulley but offers a number of advantages over the classic clamping knot system.
The device can be unlocked by light pressure on the lever of the scissor joint. The user can now control descent speed by changing the pressure on the lever. When the device is released, the scissors pull apart again and block the device.
The upper attachment eyelet is for the rope deflection when used with a double rope or for the additional Chicane braking device when used with a single rope. It is equipped with a rubber ring which holds the carabiner in position. A further safety system can be inserted into the additional attachment eyelet or it can be used for the Knee Ascent assembly.
Made of aluminium, steel and polyamide. The ZigZag is suitable for semi-static ropes complying with EN 1891 A with a diameter of 11.5 to 13 mm. Maximum working load 140 kg.
